PAUL-II Product Update

Objective:

Reduce the risk of contact between the plate and radius in pronation and supination after PAUL, a clinical observation which is typically resolved by plate removal.
Improve visualization of the distal plate at the ulna to ensure centering of the distal screw.

Change:

The distal end of the plate is narrower compared to the previous design.
FEA confirmed that the strength of the plate is not affected by the change.

Execution:

Surgical implantation stays the same.
Position of the plate centered over the ulna in the sagital plane remains essential for a successful procedure.
Patients with narrow ulna’s are expected to benefit most from this change.

Note:

Previous plate generations are fully functional and remain on the market.
